Hello, & welcome to my brand-new blog. I’ll use this space to talk about writing–my writing, specifically, but also the writing journey in general.
Let me start by saying I’m really excited about a new anthology called The Persolus Race, for which I have written a short story and helped edit a few other stories.
The concept of this anthology is very cool to me. The editor, Alistair Williams, created the overarching concept for the world, and then we all wrote stories that would fit into that world. We have a huge variety of stories, therefore, but they all fit into the same universe.
The premise is this: “Imagine a future where the human race went out into the stars, only to find that there is no intelligent alien life to be found, anywhere at all? What would this mean for the human race?” Alistair (the managing editor) then laid out a timeline, a few organizations, and some technologies we’d find in this world (you can read more about that here). One of the most important of these technologies is the “Edens,” enormous devices sent to other planets to terraform them.
Here’s the awesome cover:

My story, Lily, is set on terraformed Mars in the year 2701. Em, a botanist, studies plant life and reports back to the Eden scientists anything noteworthy. There’s very little to report… until she accidentally touches an invasive, mutated vine. Em searches for a way to save herself and her baby as the vine tries to take over her body.
This story was so fun to write! I can’t wait until it’s available to show you all. I also have been seriously enjoying editing some of the other stories. I’ve only seen a handful, since I’m not the primary editor (that would be Rachel Shipp), but I can attest to the few I’ve seen being very interesting indeed!
This anthology is what inspired me to finally make an author website. I’ll use it to keep you updated on the progress of The Persolus Race, of course, and keep letting you know as I make other work available as well. I have a plethora of short stories rattling around in my hard drive and a few novels I’m working on, so more to come for sure!
